Why see an Aviva-approved consultant in the UK?

One of the main benefits of seeing an Aviva-approved consultant is the simplicity of the healthcare experience for patients. Using private medical insurance from Aviva for healthcare is a straightforward process which we’ll take a look at later in this blog.

Alongside planned treatments and surgeries, Aviva health insurance can also provide cover for broader health and wellbeing support including osteopathy and chiropractic. For more information, please take a look at the Aviva website.

How to find an Aviva-registered surgeon

At Practice Plus Group, our Aviva consultant finder takes the stress and hassle out of looking for Aviva-registered specialists. You can also add extra filters to search by treatment type and location to refine your search.

Remember to check the terms of your policy to make sure the specific treatment you need is covered. You should also take your time choosing your approved consultant. This specialist should have experience carrying out the treatment you need alongside good reviews from past patients.

Aviva consultant fees explained

According to Aviva’s practitioner announcements, specialists registered with them agree to charge in line with Aviva’s fee schedule. They also state the aim is to provide customers with a fee assured journey.

When it comes to taking out private health insurance, Aviva’s requirements may differ from those of other providers, so patients will need to make sure these are met before they can be approved for treatment.

For more information on consultant fees, you’ll need to visit the Aviva website.

How it works

The step-by-step guide below takes you through the process of accessing healthcare with Practice Plus Group via your Aviva private health insurance policy.

Contact your health insurance provider

Before you can proceed with a consultation with us, you’ll first need to get in touch with Aviva. They will give you an authorisation code which will allow you to book an initial consultation with us.

Choose a consultant

Aviva will send you a list of specialists that they’ve approved to carry out treatment for your specific issue. This is a big decision to make so remember to take your time. You may wish to do your own research around the listed consultants, making sure you choose the right one for you.

Book an initial consultation

Once you’ve chosen an approved consultant, it’s time to have a chat with our friendly patient advisors. They’ll get you booked in for an initial consultation at a time that suits you.

Remember, your pre-surgery consultation is an opportunity to learn more about your specific health issue. Don’t be reluctant to speak up and ask your consultant plenty of questions about what’s to come. Depending on your condition, further diagnostic tests may be needed to arrive at a diagnosis.

Book your procedure

If treatment is needed, Practice Plus Group will provide you with a procedure code (also called a CCSD code). You’ll need to give this to your insurer – in this case, Aviva – who will then be able to use this to help confirm your insurance cover.

How payment works

Please ensure that you have authorised your treatment directly with Aviva. As an insured patient, you’ll need to have your authorisation code available for each step of your treatment.

Aviva will be able to advise you of any fees or excess payments you may be liable for. These may include:

  • excess payments
  • cost-share agreements
  • limits on outpatient consultations
  • diagnostic tests
  • any policy restrictions that could financially affect you.

To confirm whether you need to pay any excesses, clarify the limitations and liabilities on your policy, you’ll need to get in touch with Aviva directly.

Aviva consultant reviews

Whether you’re looking for help with a dodgy hip or a troublesome knee, our specialists are on-hand to help. Take a look at what past patients have said about their experiences with some of our Aviva-approved consultants.

“An appointment came through for a consultation with orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Scott Parker at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Southampton. On arrival at the hospital it was very clear this was a private setting and I actually checked I was in the right place! Mr Parker explained the procedure fully with reassurance and said I was good for surgery in about a month’s time.”
