Dr. Victor Hugo Baptista is an experienced Consultant General Surgeon with a rich background in managing a wide range of surgical conditions. After earning his medical degree from the University of Coimbra, Medical School, he specialized in general surgery in Portugal, focusing on colorectal cancer, hernias, and benign gastric pathologies. His pursuit of advanced surgical techniques led him to the UK, where he completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, gaining expertise in oncologic colorectal cancer, advanced rectal cancers, and intricate abdominal wall surgeries.
Before joining the Practice Plus Group Hospital of Birmingham, Dr. Baptista served at St James’s University Hospital under the leadership of Professor Giles Toogood and worked as a consultant emergency general surgeon at the prestigious Leeds Teaching Hospitals. His surgical repertoire extends across hernia repair, coloproctology, gallbladder diseases, skin surgery, and pilonidal disease management. Dr. Baptista is committed to clinical excellence, patient safety, and the mentorship of younger surgeons, making him a valued member of our medical team.
