Dr Ghanghro is a highly experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist with over 20 years’ experience diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions. He provides expert care for a wide range of digestive health problems, combining specialist clinical knowledge with a patient-focused approach to help people understand their condition and the treatment options available to them.
Dr Imran Ghanghro is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopist at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. He has specialist expertise in advanced upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, including bowel cancer screening colonoscopy, complex colorectal polypectomy and the management of Barrett’s oesophagus and other complex gastrointestinal lesions.
His advanced endoscopic procedures include endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for Barrett’s oesophagus. He also treats a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, and liver and pancreatic disorders.
Dr Ghanghro has held senior clinical leadership roles in gastroenterology and has extensive experience in education, training and quality improvement. He is an Educational Supervisor, MRCP PACES examiner, JAG training faculty member and JAG Assessor. He is committed to providing safe, compassionate and evidence-based care, taking time to explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly and involving patients in decisions about their care.

He has extensive experience as an endoscopy trainer and has led numerous JAG endoscopy training courses at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. As a JAG Assessor, he contributes to the assessment of endoscopy services and supports the maintenance of high standards of quality and patient safety within UK endoscopy.
He is also an MRCP PACES examiner and an Educational Supervisor, supporting the development and assessment of doctors at different stages of their careers.
His professional leadership experience includes serving as Endoscopy Lead and Clinical Service Lead for Gastroenterology, with responsibility for service development, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
Dr Ghanghro has been involved in clinical research, national trials and gastroenterology and endoscopy audit programmes.
