Mr Matthew Bowles graduated from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London in 1986 and did his surgical training in London and South East England. In 1999 he was awarded a Master of Surgery degree for research into small bowel transplantation.

In 2001 Mr Bowles was appointed consultant liver transplant surgeon at King’s College Hospital, London, where at various times he was clinical director for surgery, surgical tutor and foundation training programme director. He moved to Derriford in September 2009, shifting his focus from transplantation to cancer surgery and increasing my workload of gallstone and hernia surgery.
