David Rew is a broadly trained Consultant General Surgeon, who has worked at University Hospital Southampton since February 1999. Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Leicester from July 1994 to January 1999.
Mr Rew trained in surgery in various hospitals in London and in Wessex, including Southampton General Hospital and the Royal South Hants Hospital , following graduation in Surgery and Medicine in 1981.
For most of his consultant career, he specialised in general, breast, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and he has very extensive experience of soft tissue and hernia surgery.
Mr Rew has worked at the Royal South Hants Hospital throughout his consultant surgical career, and he formally joined the PPG consultant surgical panel in 2022.
Mr Rew also continues to provide a specialist regional service in thyroid and parathyroid surgery at Southampton General Hospital. He has now undertaken some 1000 thyroid operations and 500 parathyroid operations.
