Putting the patient first

We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. That’s why we’re proud to deliver quality healthcare in some of the most challenging environments; care that is equitable to that which is available in the community. We’re passionate about making a difference to the lives of our patients in secure environments by improving their health and looking after their wellbeing.

We pride ourselves on providing high quality, clinically effective and efficient healthcare which empowers people to take their health seriously. We know that quality healthcare in secure environments helps to reduce reoffending behaviour, underlying the importance of our role.

Services

We deliver round-the-clock healthcare to over 41,000 patients at over 45 prisons and immigration removal centres nationwide. Secure environments are communities like any other and we offer health services the community needs in one place and with a single team.

These range from reception health checks on arrival and regular GP services, to help with substance misuse, mental health, chronic or long-term conditions, podiatry, physiotherapy and optometry.

Improving long-term health

Collaboration is the key to success, and we work closely with our key stakeholders including NHS commissioners, the prison service, immigration removal centres to deliver healthcare services, improve outcomes, reduce waiting times and provide the very best frontline healthcare for patients.

We’re proud of our track record in improving the long-term health of our patients. Our work has won numerous awards, received praise in a large number of Care Quality Commission and His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons reports, and had excellent feedback from patients and their families.

Healthcare newsletter for friends and family

Every month, we create a healthcare newsletter for the family and friends of those in our prisons.

Packed with information around the healthcare topics that we focus on within the prison setting, it helps people living outside of the prison to feel more connected to their loved ones and provides loved ones outside with information, advice and guidance.
