Biography

Mr Szabolcs Szigethy qualified from Medical School of Szeged, Hungary and was granted his Certificate of Completion of Training by the Hungarian National Specialist Board in 1998 with further specialist training in a Teaching Hospital (Szombathely) and all Hungarian Medical Schools (Debrecen, Pecs, Szeged, Budapest).

Mr Szigethy treats a broad spectrum of ear, nose and throat disorders and conditions, and as a part of this he performs a wide range of procedures, which among others include tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, grommet insertion, and endoscopic sinus surgery, with a special interst in nasal airway surgery.

Mr Szigethy’s motto is “Salus aegroti suprema lex” that can be translated from Latin as ‘Patients’ interest is the highest law’. He is currently studying digital marketing (a master’s program), and he is particularly interested in the field of digital health.

Research

Mr Szigethy has been involved in research into sarcoidosis, a rare condition that if recognised and diagnosed by an ENT surgeon, can be treated well by a chest physician. He was awarded with Markusovszky award for this research work.

Working in a regional centre he was the contributing ENT surgeon of a cooperation with a neurosurgeon in surgery on pituitary gland.

He actively participates regularly in local and international courses (recently in Thessaloniki and Rome) to keep up to date.

Memberships and fellowships

Mr Szigethy holds an MBA from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He is a member of the European Rhinologic Society and Royal Society of Medicine.
