Andrew McCombe

Andrew qualified from Edinburgh University in 1985 and completed his extensive training across the UK and Canada, earning a Doctor of Medicine (MD) for his thesis on wind noise and hearing loss in motorcyclists. Appointed as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Frimley Park Hospital in 1995, he spent 20 years developing their Head and Neck Surgery service before practicing in Dubai for nine years and returning to the UK in early 2025.

Biography

Andrew qualified from Edinburgh University in 1985. He trained in various posts around the UK including Edinburgh, London, Liverpool and Bristol, and a six-month fellowship in Toronto, Canada. During his training he submitted a thesis, on the subject of Wind noise and hearing loss in motorcyclists, for which he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD). Andrew was appointed as Consultant ENT Surgeon to Frimley Park Hospital, UK, in 1995. His sub-speciality interest was Head and Neck Surgery and he was active in instituting and developing the service over his 20 years there. He then relocated to Dubai for the subsequent 9 years before returning to the UK in early 2025.

Senior management and leadership roles have included being Clinical Director for specialist surgery, regional lead for head and neck cancer and Chairman of the Frimley Park Hospital Consultant Staff Committee. From 2011-2014 he was Honorary Secretary to ENT-UK (the professional association for ENT surgeons in the UK). In Dubai he was medical director at Mediclinic City Hospital (2020-2023) and clinic director at an alternative and complementary medicine clinic (2023-2024). He has written and published extensively on many subjects in ENT, including 3 textbooks.
