Mr Tahir Farooq, a consultant general surgeon, specialises in laparoscopic and open procedures, delivering over 300 surgeries annually with a patient-focused approach, clear communication, and a commitment to safe, effective care.
Mr Tahir Farooq is a consultant general surgeon with over 35 years’ experience in both open and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. Based at Practice Plus Group Hospitals in Shepton Mallet and Gillingham since 2017, he performs more than 300 procedures annually. His areas of expertise include laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, laparoscopic bile duct exploration, and the surgical management of ingrowing toenails and pilonidal sinus disease.
Graduating with an MB BS from the University of Punjab in 1986, Mr Farooq went on to achieve his Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (FCPS) in 1992, Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCS) in 1998, and Intercollegiate FRCS in Surgery in 2009. He has trained and practised both in the UK and internationally, bringing a wealth of surgical knowledge to his patients.
