Varicose vein microphlebectomy FAQs

What is varicose vein microphlebectomy?

If you have bulging, twisted veins (usually in your legs) you might be dealing with varicose veins. These can sometimes cause discomfort, swelling, or just make you feel self-conscious about how your legs look. Microphlebectomy (also called ambulatory phlebectomy) is a simple, low-risk procedure that helps remove these veins. It usually doesn’t require you to stay overnight in a hospital.

How does microphlebectomy work?

Our surgeon makes a few tiny nicks in your skin, so small that they usually don’t even need stitches. Through these tiny openings, they gently remove the damaged veins using a special hook-like tool, then your other healthy veins take over the job.

Does microphlebectomy hurt?

You’ll be given local numbing medicine in the area being treated, so you’ll be awake but won’t feel pain during the procedure. Most people say they feel only a little tugging or pressure.

What about recovery?

You can usually go home right after the treatment, and most people get back to normal activities within a day or two. You might need to wear compression stockings for a short while to help with healing and reduce swelling.

Microphlebectomy in short:

Microphlebectomy is a quick, effective, and safe way to remove varicose veins and help your legs feel and look better.
