Biography

Dr Dennis Barnes is a Consultant Anaesthetist having worked in the NHS for over a decade with special interest in General, Orthopaedic, Ambulatory and Obstetric Anaesthesia, Academia, Leadership and Medical Education with patient safety central to his clinical work.

Research and publications

He is proud recipient of Wales Clinical Service Innovation Award in the past organised by the British Medical Association/Swansea University/ Wales Postgraduate Medical Deanery. The awards was aimed to recognise excellence in medical and dental postgraduate education. His research interest centred around Leadership and Management, investigating the roll out and impact of a Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH). ARCH is a flagship programme with health and science working together, to improve the health, wealth and wellbeing of the
people of South West Wales.

Memberships and fellowships

Dr Barnes has attended several national and international conferences in the field Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and a fellow with the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, member of the Royal College of Anaesthetist, and a member of good-standing with the Academy of Medical Education of Great Britain.

Hobbies and interests

Outside of work, he is a family man, keen sports fan and enjoys travelling to experience different cultures as well as exploring the serene coastlines in different countries.
