Ayoub El Mourabit

Experienced in high-volume cataract surgery and general ophthalmology, Mr Mourabit’s career spans both French and UK healthcare systems. His humanitarian missions have enhanced his adaptability and broadened his expertise, enabling him to master diverse surgical techniques across varied international settings.

Mr Mourabit has concentrated on advancing his surgical expertise in cataract surgery, with a particular focus on managing high-risk and complex cases. He is also trained in Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS), a technique especially valuable in underserved regions. His humanitarian work has further honed his ability to adapt surgical methods to challenging conditions, while benefiting from the shared knowledge of surgeons around the world.
In addition, he is skilled in a range of laser procedures, including YAG anterior and posterior capsulotomies, peripheral iridotomies, selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), and retinal laser photocoagulation (Argon) for various indications.
Mr Mourabit also performs intravitreal injections and minor eyelid surgeries, such as chalazion removal, excision of lid lumps, lacrimal sac washouts, and entropion repair.

He enjoys reading broadly in the human sciences, psychology, sociology, history, philosophy, and religions. He also values family time outdoors in nature and dedicates time to continuous development of his surgical and professional skills. Physical fitness is also a cornerstone of his routine, recognising that maintaining a strong, healthy body is essential for performing high-responsibility, demanding, and often high-pressure work at the highest standard.

Mr Mourabit volunteers as a general ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon with the French charity SEMA, delivering vital ophthalmic care in Morocco. He has also established a partnership with a charity in Gabon to provide volunteer cataract surgeries for the most vulnerable members of the community, with the programme set to begin in 2026.
Alongside his medical work, he serves as director and teacher of an educational trust supporting children, young people, and adults within the French community in the UK. Through language support, educational guidance, and personal development programmes, he helps young people cultivate purpose, ambition, and responsibility, equipping them to thrive as the next generation of leaders.
