At hospital with the Furys! Star-struck Barlborough staff welcome celeb patient

Barlborough hospital staff were left slightly star-struck when At Home with the Furys star Paris Fury and her family visited her mum, Lynda, following a recent total knee replacement at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Barlborough.

“It was a real pleasure to care for Lynda and to welcome Paris and her family to our hospital…our priority is always to provide every patient with safe, high-quality care and a positive experience.”

Lynda was cared for by the hospital’s specialist orthopaedic team, who supported her through surgery and will continue to care for her throughout her recovery.

Following the surgery, Paris – wife of boxing legend Tyson Fury – visited Lynda with her family and took time to meet the hospital team, chat with staff and pose for photographs.

Practice Plus Group Hospital, Barlborough is an independent hospital providing both NHS and private healthcare. For more than 20 years, it has helped reduce waiting times for elective surgery, including hip and knee replacements, by providing additional capacity for NHS patients like Lynda.

Under NHS Patient Choice, patients can choose where they receive their treatment, meaning those facing a long wait may be able to transfer to a hospital with a shorter waiting time. Barlborough’s specialist orthopaedic expertise and dedicated facilities enable it to treat NHS patients alongside those accessing private care, either through self-pay or private medical insurance.

Steve Booker, Hospital Director at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Barlborough, said:

“It was a real pleasure to care for Lynda and to welcome Paris and her family to our hospital – it’s not every day we have a celebrity visiting the wards! We really appreciated the time they took to speak to our staff and pose for photos.

“Our priority is always to provide every patient with safe, high-quality care and a positive experience, and we wish Lynda all the very best for a smooth recovery.

“As an independent hospital that also provides NHS treatment, we are proud to play our part in helping people access the elective surgery they need. Hip and knee replacements can have a significant impact on quality of life, and by providing additional NHS capacity, we can help patients receive treatment sooner while reducing pressure on waiting lists.”
