A Zio Patch is a small, discreet heart monitor that continuously records your heart rhythm while you go about your normal daily activities. Worn comfortably on your chest, it can detect irregular heart rhythms that may not be captured during a standard ECG performed in a clinic.
Your private GP may recommend a Zio Patch if you’re experiencing symptoms such as heart palpitations, dizziness, light-headedness, unexplained fainting, or episodes of a racing or irregular heartbeat. By monitoring your heart over an extended period, the Zio Patch can provide valuable information to help identify underlying heart rhythm conditions.
The Zio Patch is a lightweight, adhesive device that is applied to your chest during a simple appointment. Once fitted, it continuously records your heart’s electrical activity for up to 14 days while you continue with your usual routine.
Unlike traditional heart monitors, the Zio Patch has no wires or separate recording equipment, making it comfortable and convenient to wear. After the monitoring period, the device is returned for analysis, allowing specialists to review your heart rhythm and identify any abnormalities.
