Diagnostics and Musculoskeletal Assessment & Treatment

Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services (CATS)

Patients deserve quick and convenient assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Our clinical assessment and treatment services (CATS) deliver this in a single service.
Practice Plus Group is the UK’s leader in CATS, with four services around the UK that take a modern approach to healthcare. Patients have fast access to services based in their local community, and because their assessment, any diagnostic scans that they need, and their treatment can often take place in a single appointment, their treatment easily fits in to their busy lifestyle. The result is that patients have a much better experience, pressure is eased on busy hospital outpatients, the NHS receives better value for money and waiting times are reduced.

Each CATS is designed around local needs. In Greater Manchester, for example, we needed to deliver extra capacity across the city in a number of specialties while bringing care closer to people’s homes. So our Greater Manchester CATS (GM CATS) consists of two mobile clinics that rotate between seven sites around the city and provide fast access care in multiple specialties.

Our CATS facilities are:

Practice Plus Group MSK & Spinal Service, Lincolnshire provides lifestyle advice and management, soft tissue and joint injections, initial physiotherapy treatment (and referrals for ongoing treatment) and diagnostics (MRI scans, ultrasounds and X-ray)

Practice Plus Group MSK, Buckinghamshire specialises in physiotherapy, women’s health advice, acupuncture, multi-disciplinary management of MSK pain and diagnostics (MRI scans, ultrasounds and X-ray)

Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology provides a glaucoma service, pre-operative assessments prior to cataract surgery and minor eye surgery, and specialises in the treatment of suspected Wet AMD (age-related macular degeneration).

Diagnostics

Our diagnostics services use the latest imaging technology and techniques to offer patients a range of high quality, community-based diagnostic investigations.
We know how important it is for patients to receive a fast and accurate diagnosis, and our services reduce waiting times while increasing choice and convenience. Our highly trained clinical teams are professional, friendly and compassionate, and dedicated to providing the highest standard of service.

Each year we deliver more than 75,000 community-based scans at over 60 locations across the country on behalf of the NHS. Scans range from MRI to ultrasound, X-ray and echocardiography to CT and DXA (bone density testing).

A similar range of scans are offered by our hospitals and surgical centres and our clinical assessment and treatment services located around the country.

We also run high quality community-based mobile ultrasound and DXA services at dozens of sites across the UK on behalf of the NHS and independent healthcare providers. The services move between local clinics on a rota system, providing a convenient and community-based option for patients who have been referred by their GPs.

In addition, we run several centres where the main focus is on diagnostics. For patients referred by their GPs, these centres offer fast access to a range of scanning technology, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound and DXA.

We have services in the following locations:

Practice Plus Group Diagnostics, Buckinghamshire

Practice Plus Group Diagnostics, Havant

Wherever we’re working, and whatever diagnostic test we’re performing, our teams pride themselves on delivering the highest possible standard of service for patients at the right time and in the right place.
