Biography

Since qualifying in Dentistry in 2005, Ms Gemma Burrows has worked in NHS hospitals providing Oral Surgery treatment and managing facial pain and oral medicine conditions. She carried out her training as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Salisbury District Hospital and Poole General Hospital.

She has gone on to work as a Staff Grade Oral Surgeon at both Poole General Hospital and, more recently, Salisbury District Hospital for the last 12 years. She has also worked at an Intermediate Minor Oral Surgery service.

At Salisbury District Hospital, she was the Clinical Lead for Paediatric Oral Surgery. Since 2019, she has also served as an educational supervisor and clinical supervisor. She has trained in conscious sedation and regularly uses this technique to help manage anxious patients.

Ms Gemma Burrows joined Practice Plus Group Hospital, Southampton in 2024.

Research and publications

Ms Burrows has been involved in regular audits and research during her hospital roles and has presented at national conferences. She also completed a Quality Improvement Fellowship in 2020 to help improve the paediatric service at Salisbury District Hospital.
