Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2025

At Practice Plus Group, we are committed to nurturing talent and giving our people the chance to build their career

National Apprenticeship Week 2025 is a celebration of the incredible impact apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider community.

At Practice Plus Group, we are committed to nurturing talent and giving our people the chance to build their career.

This National Apprenticeship Weeks, we shine a light on some of our incredible apprentices.

Sophie Fitzpatrick – Day Surgery Ward Nurse

Practice Plus Group Surgical Centre, St Mary’s Portsmouth

Sophie started her career in care homes before joining Practice Plus Group as a healthcare assistant. Inspired by the work on the ward, she took on additional responsibilities, completed her training, and is now on her journey to becoming a registered nurse. She says:

“I like that I can learn while working, gaining new experiences every day. My manager is very accommodating, giving me dedicated time to study. Balancing work, study, and home life with a five-year-old can be challenging, but the flexibility and support make it possible. The team here is incredible, and I truly feel encouraged to progress.”

Margaret – Healthcare Assistant

HMP Wormwood Scrubs

Margaret’s passion for healthcare led her to take the Nursing Associate apprenticeship, allowing her to progress from a healthcare assistant to now pursuing a Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship. She adds:

“Practice Plus Group believed in me and provided me with the opportunity to advance my career. The team was always there for support, ensuring I had what I needed to succeed. The experience has transformed my confidence, skills, and professional aspirations.”

Luke Craker – Urgent Care Practitioner

Devon Out of Hours

With a background as a paramedic, Luke took on an apprenticeship to become an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP). Supported by the Out of Hours (OOH) team at Practice Plus Group, he balances his studies, work, and family life, while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. He says:

“The best part of an apprenticeship is learning on the job while maintaining a work-life balance. I have a dedicated mentor, protected study time, and financial support. The experience has been invaluable, giving me real-world patient interactions and broadening my clinical skills. If you’re looking to advance your career in urgent care, Practice Plus Group is the place to be.”

David Beaumont – Healthcare Administration

HMP Moorland

David is in the final months of his Level 4 Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship, a journey that has expanded his knowledge and skills in Health in Justice. He shares:

“The pharmacy team has been incredibly supportive. The work environment is rewarding, and the opportunity to develop my career while studying has been invaluable. I highly recommend working in Health in Justice for personal and professional growth.”
