Biography

Mr Manhal Al-Gurgia is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and an accredited consultant ophthalmologist with specialist expertise in cataract surgery, medical retina, and laser eye procedures.

He completed his ophthalmology training in the North West of England, followed by advanced fellowship training in Medical Retina and Cataract Surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle. His clinical practice focuses on the management of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, and retinal vein occlusions. He is highly experienced in a wide range of ophthalmic procedures, including intravitreal injections, cataract surgery, YAG laser capsulotomy, peripheral iridotomy, selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), pan-retinal photocoagulation, and retinopexy.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Al-Gurgia is an examiner for both the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, supporting the highest professional and clinical standards in ophthalmology.
