When Cheryl Andreozzi-Picton, 45, developed a painful frozen shoulder, she knew from experience how debilitating it could become. Facing growing discomfort and delays on the NHS, she turned to Wellsoon private healthcare from Practice Plus Group Diagnostics, Buckinghamshire for quick relief.

“I decided to go private so I could re-start my life again. Wellsoon’s costs were much more reasonable than where I’d been treated before privately, and their costs were all clearly set out on the website.”

Commenting on treatment and experience, Cheryl says:
“I’d been in agony with a frozen shoulder since January. At first, I thought it might be tendonitis or perhaps a symptom of perimenopause. I’d heard it was common for women of my age to get a frozen shoulder due to hormonal changes. I wanted to get some answers, so I visited my GP who sent me for an X-ray.
“Upon seeing the results, he couldn’t say for sure if it was tendonitis or due to the perimenopause, so he referred me to a Musculoskeletal Consultant in Surrey for NHS treatment. However, he couldn’t tell me how soon I’d be seen but that I was on a waiting list for an appointment.
“By then, I couldn’t sleep at night, and my range of movement was getting worse. I would spend hours awake at night with the pain. My limited shoulder movement meant I had difficulty every day with my job working in a school and looking after my daughter and couldn’t dream of doing activities I enjoy like swimming.
“Not knowing how much longer I’d have to wait on the NHS and being seriously hindered by my shoulder, I was at breaking point. I thought about visiting the clinic in Surrey I’d been to privately in the past for an Ultrasound Guided Injection (USGI) but recall it was astronomical, so in May I began to look online for cheaper alternatives.
“I found Wellsoon through a Google search and called the team – they were fantastic. Cath was so helpful and supportive, and booked me in to see a consultant within days.”

“I asked my Dad to drive me the nearly 50-mile round trip from Surrey to its MSK facility in Buckinghamshire. The journey was easy, and the centre simple to find right off the M40. The facilities were very clean and welcoming, and the staff were all lovely.
“I was given a USGI (Ultrasound Guided Injection) and started to feel the effects very quickly. Within a matter of days my movement was returning to normal and the pain had gone.

“Even now, I’m still waiting for the NHS referral from my GP weeks later, so I’m really glad I just went for it and got the treatment I needed. Now I can get on with my life and get some sleep at night!”
What is an ultrasound-guided injection?
An Ultrasound Guided Injection (USGI) is a precise medical procedure in which a specialist uses ultrasound imaging to guide a needle directly to the affected area, allowing for highly accurate delivery of medication – typically a corticosteroid or local anaesthetic – to be injected into joints, tendons, or muscles to relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
