A MUA (Manipulation Under Anaesthetic) of the nasal bone is a procedure used to reset or straighten a broken (fractured) nose.
Broken nose surgery may be recommended if a nose fracture has caused the nasal bones to move out of position, affecting the appearance of your nose, your breathing or your comfort. It is performed to restore the shape of the nose and relieve any blockage to breathing.
The surgery is carried out under a general anaesthetic where the surgeon uses external pressure and sometimes specialised instruments to pop the bones back into place.
