Practice Plus Group launches online diagnostic booking service with Scan.com
Practice Plus Group Hospitals has partnered with digital health platform Scan.com to launch an online diagnostic scan booking service, enabling patients to arrange selected diagnostic scans directly online for the first time.
Private diagnostic imaging at a glance
Thanks to the new partnership, Practice Plus Group patients can book selected diagnostic imaging services via a new online booking service provided by Scan.com.
Our bookable diagnostic imaging services include MRI, CT, and ultrasound scans. These are available across 12 UK locations, subject to availability.
Patients are able to see the available scan options and fixed prices before booking, giving them greater clarity about their care and the costs involved.
The new service expands Practice Plus Group’s digital booking capability, complementing existing partnerships with third-party online platforms, including Doctify, which was introduced to patients earlier this year.
The partnership is part of Practice Plus Group’s wider work to make private healthcare easier to navigate, with a focus on providing patients with clearer information about available services, where they can access them and the cost of care.

The service also provides clinical oversight as part of the booking journey. Patients can self-refer without having first seen a GP or other healthcare professional. Following their booking, they will have a telephone consultation with a clinician to discuss their scan and complete the necessary safety and clinical checks before attending.
Diagnostic images and consultant reporting are provided as part of the service, with patients receiving appropriate information about their results and any further care required.
Barry Nee, CIO at Practice Plus Group Hospitals said:
“We know that navigating healthcare can sometimes feel complicated, particularly when patients are paying privately or using their private medical insurance. We want to make that experience as straightforward and transparent as possible.
“Online booking gives patients another way to access diagnostic care, with clear information about the service, availability and price upfront. Importantly, the digital journey sits alongside the clinical support and safeguards patients would expect from a healthcare provider.
“Our partnership with Scan.com is an early step in developing our online booking capability. We are looking at how we can build on this approach across more of our services and treatments, giving patients and referrers greater choice in how they access and interact with our services.”
Developing our digital capabilities
The development forms part of Practice Plus Group’s ongoing digital transformation, focused on improving the experience of both patients and colleagues.
Since being acquired by Narayana Health last year, Practice Plus Group has been developing its digital capabilities and exploring how technology can support more accessible, connected and patient-centred care.
The introduction of online diagnostic scan booking is an early example of this approach, with Practice Plus Group exploring how more services could be made available digitally over time.
“Digital healthcare should make things easier for patients and our teams, while maintaining the personal and clinical support that sits behind the service.
“This is the beginning of that journey for Practice Plus Group. We will continue to look at where digital tools can remove unnecessary steps, provide clearer information and give patients greater choice, while allowing our teams to focus their time on delivering high-quality patient care.”
