Biography
Miriam Langdon’s science and clinical background began in Canada as an undergraduate in genetics and progressed to a medical degree and post-graduate research in physiology in Ireland.
Dr Langdon was appointed to Practice Plus Group following thirteen years as Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist in the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Ireland where she specialised in anaesthesia and pain management for complex tumour surgery in young adults.
She has a special interest in perioperative medicine particularly in the older patient and early recovery after surgery especially the role of advanced post-operative pain control. Her specialist clinical practice incorporates advanced regional anaesthesia and analgesia, primary arthroplasty, sports surgery, ENT, dental, gynaecological and general surgery and difficult airway management.
Research
Miriam’s research, publishing and grant funding track record spans three decades from undergraduate Genetics and postgraduate research in pure physiology to her ongoing passion for advanced technologies in Medical Education including VR and high fidelity simulation of emergencies in anaesthesia.
For 15 years she had the privilege of delivering a demanding undergraduate and postgraduate teaching load for the university hospital and the Irish Simulation Anaesthesia Training Centre and examining for the College of Anaesthesiology Ireland to compliment her clinical practice.
Memberships and fellowships
Dr Langdon is registered on both the UK and Irish Specialist Registers and her practice is validated through the General Medical Council and Irish Medical Council Professional Competency Scheme, including clinical practice audit cycle. She holds membership to the Anaesthesia Association of Great Britain and Ireland and a Fellowship of College Anaesthesia, Royal College Of Surgeons Ireland.
