Biography

Mr Petsas obtained his Nursing Degree in Greece in 1998. He obtained his Medical Degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2005. He then went on to do his training in Anaesthetics at Hippokratio General Hospital of Thessaloniki, Greece, a tertiary hospital with 1100 beds. He passed his exam and obtained his Title of Specialty in Anaesthetics in 2013.

When finishing his training he worked for a short time in Universitäts und Rehabilitationkliniken, Ulm (RKU) in Germany, practicing in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia. After this worked in several hospitals in Greece, at Peterborough City hospital, UK and in private hospital in Dubai, UAE. He has worked and has experience in a great variety of specialties including General Surgery, ENT, Bariatrics, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Cardiac/Thoracic Surgery.

Mr Petsas has a special interest in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia and orthopaedic surgery.

Research

Mr Petsas’ research interest is mainly around regional anaesthesia. He published articles including the first published case of erector spinae plane block from Greece (at the time there were no reviews regarding this technique, only case reports). He also has a research interest and was invited as a speaker regarding chronic postsurgical pain in Global Pain Conference in Florence in 2018.

He is also a reviewer in 3 medical journals.

Mr Petsas is an Associate member of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
