Following Medical School Graduation in 1983 and two years in General surgery, he completed higher surgical ophthalmology training at St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem and UK in 1990 and undertook a subspecialty training fellowship in Vitreous and Retina surgery at St Paul ‘s Eye Unit in Liverpool in 1993. He acquired a wealth of clinical, healthcare management and leadership experience, working at St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Director of Clinical Research and Medical Director as well as in private practice until 2009. He then moved to Dubai to work as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, clinical lead and member of the Hospital Clinical Quality & Patient Safety (Including Morbidity & Mortality) Sub-Committee at Mediclinic Middle East City Hospital, until 2012. He then returned to UK and took a Consultant Ophthalmologist job, clinical governance and Audit lead at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport.
Mr Kanavati is experienced in small incision and premium advanced technology cataract and IOL implant surgery, Retinal and Laser surgery.
