Miss Edwards graduated from Oxford University Medical School in 1992. In 2003 she completed higher surgical training at the West Midlands Deanery, in trauma and orthopaedics. After this she undertook a one year fellowship at the prestigious Wrightington Hospital Upper Limb Unit.
In 2004 she took up her first consultant post in trauma and orthopaedics at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, initially undertaking both adult and paediatric upper limb surgery.
In 2017 Dr Edwards moved to University Hospitals Bristol and Weston as Deputy Medical Director.
Since April 2022 Miss Edwards has been the Medical Director and a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet. She now undertakes hand and wrist surgery only.
As a Medical Director & Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Miss Edwards undertakes hand and wrist surgery including joint replacement surgery in the hand, specialising in soft tissue problems in the hand including carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s disease and arthritis conditions of the hand. Miss Edwards undertakes joint replacement procedures in the hand.
Research
Miss Edwards has been involved in research into wrist fractures and instability conditions and has written a book about orthopaedics aimed at GPs.
Memberships and fellowships
Miss Edwards regularly visits India as part of a charity organisation delivering Orthopaedic care to rural communities.
