Fast, quality outcomes, transparently-priced treatment

Our unfaltering dedication to quality is something we are very proud of; we constantly strive to do things better for our patients. This ethos has led to innovative, evidence-based developments in our procedures and ongoing improvements to the patient experience.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC), an independent regulator of health and social care in England, rated us ‘Outstand’ and ‘Good’ across all of our hospitals. This means you can rest assured that our services are safe, reliable and patient-focused.

We know that our performance is a vital part of trusting us to care for you or your loved ones, which is why we want to share the following information with you.

What you will get

  • The highest quality care
  • A named consultant from start to finish

What you won’t get

  • Any compromise on safety or outcome
  • Any hidden extra costs

As a day patient

Your appointment letter will state the time of your appointment. Please give yourself plenty of time to travel to the hospital.

Ensure you drink plenty of water as you may need to have a urine or blood test. This is especially relevant to urology and gynaecology patients.

If you require glasses please make sure you bring them with you, as you may need to read and fill out paperwork.

Make sure you have a detailed list of the medication you are currently taking and have taken in the past.

If you are an ophthalmology patient, please do not drive yourself to the hospital.

All areas of our hospital are accessible to wheelchair users. Portable hearing loops are available at the main reception desk and can be carried around the hospital as required.

The nature of your day visit depends on whether you are undergoing diagnostic testing, minor surgery, or a different procedure although.

If you are undergoing a procedure or treatment on the day, our team will ensure that you can recover in a safe and comfortable environment. Your Consultant and nurses will monitor you closely and decide when you are ready to leave.

As an overnight patient

You will see several members of our team at your pre-admission appointment and may be asked a lot of similar questions: this is because we need to be absolutely sure we have the right information.

We will undertake as many tests as possible on the day of your appointment, but you may need to return for a specialist visit.

Your pre-admission appointment is also an opportunity for you to meet the consultant who will perform your treatment. Feel free to ask any questions you wish – you may even want to write these down ahead of your appointment. They will explain any special preparations you may need to make before your treatment.

Are you staying overnight in our inpatient ward? Remember to bring the following items with you:

  • a nightdress or pyjamas (preferably knee length or shorts)
  • day clothes
  • clean underwear
  • dressing gown and slippers
  • toiletries
    • toothbrush

Please remember that all valuables and money is brought in at your own risk. You are advised not to bring in laptops, tablets and jewellery.

Your family and friends are welcome to visit you.

We offer free Wi-Fi access for patients and visitors.

If you’re staying with us, you’ll be in either a single en-suite room or a same-sex shared en-suite room depending on your preference. This is part of our commitment to patient dignity, and helps ensure a more comfortable and relaxed stay.

“I went in to the centre in so much pain and walked out, on crutches, two and a half days later pain free – it was remarkable.”

Gastric sleeve, Barlborough – Thank you so much all of you!

I came here for a Sleeve Gastrectomy with the great Dr. Peter Vasas. My surgery went smoothly and I had the most amazing support from staff before and after. I couldn’t remember everyone’s name but Kerry, Jane, Atila and either Ava/Amy (theatre staff) were all amazing. Every staff member I spoke to was so kind and caring. I couldn’t commend this hospital more for being so well organised, hygienic, well staffed and great quality care. The private room I had was perfect, had everything I needed in it and I slept very comfortably. Would recommend having a general or orthopaedic surgery here to anyone who needed it ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much all of you!

Hip replacement, Birmingham – “I really can’t praise EVERYONE more. All departments are 5 star”

I couldn’t be happier with all the results. No pain meds after about 10 days and I’m walking better now than I have for so long.
I really can’t praise EVERYONE more. All departments are 5 star and have exceeded my expectations. MY THANKS TO YOU ALL, ESPECIALLY MR BLOCKER, BUT I REALLY DO MEAN ALL OF YOU.

Hip replacement, Birmingham – “Feeling like a new woman again”

I am 7 days post op today after my hip replacement [with my amazing consultant Mr K Dehne] at this wonderful hospital. Feeling like a new woman again so very soon has more than amazed me. Every single member of staff I was lucky enough to meet were just so pleasant, caring, reassuring and a pleasure to be with during my pre op assessment all through to my post op care.

Shoulder replacement, Ilford- found my experience well worth the 5 🌟s

I had a left, total shoulder replacement operation on Monday 16 Dec 2024 and found my experience well worth the 5 🌟s. I found all the staff, (from ward, theatre, xray porters, cleaners and catering) leading up to my operation and the following day so very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them and they put me at ease. I am not very good at remembering names but I do remember Karen, who looked after me when I arrived and Veronica (student nurse) who stayed with me while i waited for my cab to arrive. Just wish I could remember your names so I could name you but you know who you are. Once again, thank you all x

Gastroscopy, Ilford – I couldn’t be more impressed with the care I received

I recently had a gastroscopy procedure at Practice Plus, Ilford Hospital, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the care I received. The staff went above and beyond by calling me to offer an earlier appointment, which was incredibly convenient. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with professionalism and kindness. The nurses and doctors were so caring, guiding me through the procedure with reassurance and expertise. I was in and out of the hospital in under an hour, and the entire process was handled seamlessly. The minimal discomfort I experienced was a testament to the skill of the medical team. I can’t rate the doctors and nurses highly enough – truly outstanding care!

General surgery, Gillingham – I felt really happy

I came to this centre and was worried because I read some of the reviews but what a surprise, from the moment I came in to the moment I left I felt really happy with the service, the staff were incredible, a lovely lady called Otis was super friendly and Dr Mohammed and his staff were really lovely and put my nerves at ease straight away. The place is super clean and I really have no complaints whatsoever.
