Administration and business support

At Practice Plus Group our administration and support teams are at the heart of what we do. Within our Hospitals Surgical and Diagnostic centres, GP Clinic, teams work to support our Consultants and clinicians so they can focus on making patients better. Without the support of our administrative, finance, catering, sterile services and housekeeping teams our sites wouldn’t run as efficiently or effectively.

Administration

The roles in the administration team vary from reception to finance, 111 Operations to Patient services. They are often the first point of contact for our patients so need to be adaptable, polite, friendly and caring, The teams have strong administration skills and keen eye for detail, often having to think on their feet and solve and resolve queries both internally and externally but enjoy working as part of a wide and varied team.

Catering

Our award winning catering teams, based in our Hospital and Surgical Centres are responsible for providing an efficient, high quality dedicated food and beverage service. Our teams all hold a minimum of a Basic Food Hygiene certificate are, committed to customer care, first class service provision and a belief in teamwork.

Sterile Services

Sterile Services is a vital, but little known department within the hospital setting as it processes all used instrumentation, which involves the receipt of contaminated instruments, the preparation of the instruments for washing (which can be automated and manual), the checking, assembling and finally the sterilising of the instruments.

The sterile service department has to adhere to many standards and is constantly audited to ensure compliance. Therefore the technician that work in sterile services have to be diligent in all that they do and the training programme will take anything from eight to twelve months before the technician is deemed proficient. However, the role of a technician is always about constantly learning as new operating methods and associated equipment forms part of healthcare on a regular basis.

There are opportunities for advancement in sterile services departments from technician, to team leader, then deputy manager to manager where a university degree in decontamination can be taken.

Housekeeping

Our housekeeping team take pride in providing a high standard of cleaning in both clinical and non-clinical areas. To join the team experience and knowledge of health and safety are important and so is commitment to customer care, first class service provision and a belief in teamwork.
