We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. That’s why we deliver quality healthcare in some of the most challenging environments – for those in secure environments. Working in secure environments offers a diverse and collaborative career in healthcare.

Practice Plus Group have dedicated healthcare teams working in prisons and immigration removal centres (IRCs) across the country who are passionate about helping those in secure environments to develop lasting, positive health and wellbeing.

In a matter of a few years, we have grown our Health in Justice service line to over 45 prisons and IRCs. Today we provide all forms of care, from primary and nursing care, to sexual health, mental health and substance misuse services, and on any one day we’re responsible for the healthcare of over 41,000 patients.

Collaboration is the key to success, and we partner with commissioning bodies to assess the needs of each establishment. We then work with prison and IRC staff to deliver improved outcomes, reduced waiting times and the very best frontline healthcare for those in secure environments.

An eLearning programme about career options within health and justice settings has been developed by Health Education England eLearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) and the NHS England health and justice team. The programme is aimed at anyone interested in exploring the services and career opportunities within the sector.
