Miss Kathryn French is a highly accomplished consultant oral surgeon with over 18 years of clinical experience and a proven record of excellence in patient care. As lead oral surgeon at Practice Plus Group’s Emersons Green and Devizes hospitals, she performs more than 500 procedures each year and is trusted by patients and colleagues alike for her technical expertise, calm professionalism, and commitment to outstanding outcomes.
Kathryn graduated from Peninsula Dental School in 2012 before completing her specialist training in oral surgery in 2020. Her talent and dedication were recognised early in her career when she was awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship, enabling her to combine hands-on surgical practice with pioneering research and teaching. Today, she continues to influence the profession as an honorary lecturer at the University of Bristol, mentoring future oral surgeons and sharing her expertise in complex procedures and patient management.
Her areas of expertise include surgical extractions, cone beam CT interpretation, impacted tooth removal, and sedation. Kathryn is particularly known for her compassionate, patient-centred approach, providing exceptional care for those who are anxious or neurodiverse. Miss French has a special interest in wound healing from her undergraduate Biological Sciences degree and in education, as Unit Lead for the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Conscious Sedation and Anxiety Management. She set up the clinical portion of the course at Emersons Green and has developed and marked examinations in collaboration with UoB. Kathryn has also been working with our Neurodiversity Team to improve the experiences of our oral surgery patients with additional needs.
