Biography

Dr Ioannis Tsagurnis graduated from the University of Dusseldorf Medical School in 1987 and earned his postgraduate doctoral title there in 1989. He completed his specialist training in anaesthesia in Birmingham in 1996. He started off his career in a variety of high-pressure posts such as intensive care medicine, cardiac surgery and neurosurgery, and as member of the London HEMS helicopter team. With over 30 years of experience as an anaesthetist, Dr Tsagurnis has developed expertise in regional anaesthesia using ultrasound-guided nerve blocks. Spinal blocks for joint replacements feature highly in his work pattern.
