Mr Farhan Zaidi is an experienced consultant ophthalmologist and surgeon. He has over 12 years’ experience working as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon. He graduated from University College London Medical School in 1994 with MBBS (Hons) obtaining several prizes including one of those for greatest proficiency overall.
After training in London teaching hospitals in surgery in general at UCL and Barts Hospitals he obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, FRCS. He worked on the Professorial Unit of Plastic Surgery at UCL Hospitals and did his speciality training in ophthalmology based in London rotating through Moorfields and other teaching hospitals including in cataract surgery.
He completed his training with Fellowships in oculoplastic surgery and medical retina. Amongst other qualifications Mr Zaidi is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, FRCOphth, and he did a PhD in ophthalmology at Imperial College London producing widely cited research. Mr Zaidi has extensive experience as an NHS consultant ophthalmologist including in emergency ophthalmology and holds senior NHS positions as a consultant. In 2017 he was appointed as Clinical Lead for SW London Diabetic Eye Screening Services.
Mr Zaidi joined the ophthalmology team at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Ilford and Surgical Centre, Gillingham in 2019, appointed as a substantive consultant in cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery and medical retina. He remains an active member of the team.
