Biography

Dr Modzeliauskas graduated from the Kaunas University of Medicine and worked as a gastroenterologist and endoscopist at the largest health care institution in Lithuania – Kaunas University Hospital. Throughout the 38 years of his professional career, he has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in performing a wide range of endoscopic procedures. These include: gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and flexible sigmoidoscopy. His clinical acumen underscores his ability to accurately diagnose and manage complex gastrointestinal conditions, utilising advanced therapeutic interventions such as polypectomy, mucosal resection, and haemostasis techniques.

In his last role as a Consultant gastroenterologist at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, he consistently ensured the provision of superior gastroenterological services. His responsibilities include performing upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopies, mentoring junior medical staff, and participating in continuous medical education to stay abreast of the latest advancements in gastroenterology. He has also been instrumental in conducting and reporting on JAG quality audits, contributing to the maintenance of high procedural standards.
