Dr Petsas is a consultant anaesthetist specialising in ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, with extensive experience in orthopaedic, trauma, and surgical anaesthesia. Trained in Greece and Germany, he has worked in the UK, UAE, and Greece, delivering care across multiple specialties including obstetrics, paediatrics, and cardiac surgery.
Dr Petsas obtained his nursing degree in Greece in 1998. He obtained his medical degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2005. He then went on to do his training in anaesthetics at Hippokratio General Hospital of Thessaloniki, Greece, a tertiary hospital with 1100 beds. He passed his exam and obtained his title of Specialty in Anaesthetics in 2013.
When finishing his training he worked for a short time in Universitäts und Rehabilitationkliniken, Ulm (RKU) in Germany, practicing in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia.
After this worked in several hospitals in Greece, at Peterborough City Hospital, UK and in private hospital in Dubai, UAE. He has worked and has experience in a great variety of specialties including general surgery, ENT, bariatrics, trauma and orthopaedics, obstetrics, paediatrics and cardiac/thoracic surgery.
Dr Petsas has a special interest in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia and orthopaedic surgery.

Dr Petsas’ main research interests lie in the field of regional anaesthesia. He has published several peer-reviewed articles, including the first case report from Greece on the use of the erector spinae plane block at a time when no reviews on the technique were yet available. He has also been invited to speak on chronic post-surgical pain, including a presentation at the Global Pain Conference in Florence in 2018.
Peer-reviewed publications in Journal of Pain Research, J Anesth Crit Care, Int J Anesthetic Anesthesiol, and others. Topics include postoperative pain, regional blocks, anaesthesia in the elderly, and diagnostic nerve blocks.
