Getting here
We are located off junction 21 of the M62, then follow the A640. When you arrive please register at reception so we know you’re here. A member of staff will collect you for your appointment.
You can get to us by train. The station is a short taxi ride away, or a 25 minute walk.
Parking on-site is ample and available to all patients, free of charge.
We have free Wi-Fi access for patients and visitors.
All areas of our hospital are accessible to wheelchair users.
Our patient information is available in a range of languages and in large print on request.
We have an interpretation service available to support you if English is not your preferred language.
Please let a member of our booking team know prior to your appointment if you have any special requirements.
We have a pharmacy on-site for patients.
When you leave the hospital after you’ve had your treatment, you’ll be given full details of your follow-up care. We will inform your GP that you’ve been discharged from the hospital, and day case patients are telephoned the day after their surgery to check that they are recovering well.
It’s crucial to rest and take care of yourself after your treatment.

‘White Coat Syndrome’(also known as ‘White Coat Hypertension’ or the ‘White Coat Effect’) is a condition to describe people experiencing increased stress levels and blood pressure when in a medical clinic or hospital.
The condition is not uncommon, with as many as 1 in 8 people experiencing it when in a medical setting.
Does White Coat Syndrome affect patients at Practice Plus Group?
Yes. It can be upsetting for patients because, as well as being unpleasant to experience, higher blood pressure can result in postponed and cancelled appointments.
What are Practice Plus Group doing to help?
We’re taking the following steps to help patients with the condition:
Pre-treatment patient tours of our hospitals with the opportunity to meet care teams
Access to quiet areas for blood pressure checks
Regular blood pressure readings during appointments – often blood pressure lowers as the patient relaxes.
To be able to receive a clinical assessment or treatment from us, you’ll first need to be referred by your Optician/Optometrist or GP.
When we receive your referral we’ll get in touch with you to make your first appointment. You’ll then receive a confirmation letter with any other information relevant to the examination you’ll be having with us.
You will be seen at a local clinic by a multi-professional team who will assess you and provide same day treatment where possible.
If you can’t make it to your appointment please contact the centre to let us know as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to reschedule your appointment for a time and date that suits you.
Cataract surgery, Rochdale – staff efficient and reassuring
I recently had cataract surgery at Croft Shifa Health Centre, Rochdale, with Practice Plus. I found them excellent and the outcome amazing. From referral by my Optician to the procedure on my second eye it took only 10 weeks, and this was through the NHS route. I was naturally frightened but I found the staff efficient and reassuring. Cataract surgery, Rochdale – the care given was second to none
I had my cataracts removed from both eyes at Practice Plus in Rochdale, one in March 2022 and the second in April 2022. The care I was given by everyone involved, from consultant to nursing team to the patient services team was second to none. I will be forever grateful to everyone who looked after me and made my sight better than it has ever been!

This Autumn and Winter, I have had cataract surgery to both eyes carried out by the ophthalmic team at Rochdale. Friendly staff greet patients at clean, modern facilities after well-organised appointments…they run more to time than most health services and an outstanding surgical team delivered life changing results! I could not recommend this service enough.
