Mr Shahid specialises in hip replacement and revision as well as knee replacement and revision procedures. He enjoys undertaking leadership and management roles and has been Lead Clinician for the Short Stay Programme for Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. He continues to work as Team Doctor for Solihull FC and has recently been appointed a professional member for the Medical Tribunal Service. He practises at Practice Plus Group Birmingham and Shepton Mallet.
Mr Shahid graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 2004, with a year ranking of 1st for General Medicine in his final year. After completing the South West Basic Surgical Training Programme, he undertook the formal UK Specialist Registrar Training Programme StR within the West Midlands Deanery, where he spent a reasonable amount of time at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham learning about both primary and revision total hip and knee replacements.
After completing his UK training leading to award of CCT in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Mr Shahid undertook both international and UK advanced fellowship in both hip and knee arthroplasty, primary and revision cases. His Canadian Fellowship in the Hip and Knee institute Manitoba and UK Fellowship at Barts Health NHS Trust helped him gain further experience in managing complex problems of the hip and knee joint. A further fellowship at Ashford and St Peters Hospital in Chertsey enhanced his experience in managing soft tissue knee injuries and complex trauma. He has a special interest in managing both primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty cases including soft tissue knee problems.
Mr Shahid has been working as a Consultant for over 18 months at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust DGT specialising in hip and knee arthroplasty, soft tissue knee cases and participating in the on-call rota for trauma before undertaking my Consultant position here at Practice Plus Group Hospitals. He continues to work part-time as a Major Trauma Consultant for University Hospital Birmingham since August 2018.

Mr Shahid has a strong research background and holds a MSC in Orthopaedic Engineering from the University of Cardiff. He has published large volumes of research in peer reviewed journals and presented at International meetings.
Mr Shahid is passionate about improving the quality of care patients receive and has been involved in numerous audit projects. He was recently presented with the DGT St Georges Cross Award for bravery and commitment over the most difficult recent times during the COVID pandemic.
