Biography
Mr El Ashmawy is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialised in the management of trauma and problems related to the hip and knee.
He has expertise in hip and knee arthroplasty, including total hip/knee replacement, partial knee replacement, periprosthetic fractures and revision arthroplasty. He has a subspecialist interest in knee arthroscopy and knee sports injuries.
He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2018, then subsequently commenced his first senior arthroplasty fellowship at University Hospitals Plymouth where he had more subspecialty training in hip and knee arthroplasty, alongside trauma surgery.
He then started a knee and hip fellowship at the internationally renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, in which he gained further expertise in partial and total knee replacement, revision knee surgery, management of bone and joint infections, knee arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction.
