London IUC Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement (PPIE)

Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement (PPIE) is the active participation of patients, users, carers, stakeholders, community representatives and the general public in the development and delivery of localised health and care services. PPIE is broader and deeper than traditional consultation; it aims to give local people a say in how health services are planned, delivered and evaluated. People have the right to be involved directly, through representatives or through organisations that represent them or act on their behalf.
Practice Plus Group is committed to Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement by ensuring that decisions around service design, delivery and improvement take into account the views of patients and the general public. We recognise that this will improve the quality of our decision making and lead to services based around the needs of patients.
For PPIE to work well, we aim to encourage and enable people to engage with us. This is achieved by:
PPIE can be particularly important for people who are more likely to face inequalities or barriers to accessing health and care services.
Improving the experience of each individual patient or carer is at the centre of what Practice Plus Group stands for. Delivering and obtaining feedback from patients and their carers, taking into account their views and priorities are vital for the delivery of high-quality services and driving service improvements.
If you have recently used NHS 111 or NHS out-of-hours services, delivered by Practice Plus Group, please complete one of the following questionnaires about your experience of our service.

Peoples’ lives can be transformed when they feel in control of their health and wellbeing. When people are involved in decisions about their health and care they tend to make decisions and choices that help them optimise their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
To better support patients, Practice Plus Group deliver holistic patient education workshops in communities to increase understanding and appropriate use of NHS 111 and NHS out-of-hours services in North West and South West London.
The aim is to educate patients on the benefits of using NHS 111 and NHS out-of-hours services and to give them a better understanding of all the things that 111 and out-of-hours service can do to support patients.
This can be particularly beneficial for groups who are more likely to face inequalities or barriers to accessing health and care services or are less knowledgeable of services. This can include disadvantaged communities, refugee groups, those who are from BME backgrounds or do not speak English as a first language.
