Visiting the prison

Booking a visit – domestic visits (family and friends): On arrival at HMP Millsike, prisoners are asked to submit a list of family members and friends who may wish to visit. These individuals are subject to security screening, which takes up to 72 hours.

Once approved, prisoners can book their visitors via secure, in-cell technology. All visits must be booked with at least 48 hours’ notice. If no visit has been booked, the prison cannot allow entry on the day.

Children and under-18s must be accompanied by an adult and are required to bring their birth certificate, red book or student ID.

All adults must have a photo and finger or thumbprint taken on the first visit for verification and security purposes. These will be checked with each subsequent visit.

The personal information collected is used to help identify you on entry and exit to the prison site.

Booking a visit – legal/officials only: Legal representatives, probation officers and official visitors must book visits separately through the phone line. Proof of accreditation and ID is required upon entry. All official visitors are subject to security screening.

Legal rooms are available but must be booked in advance and cannot be allocated on the day.
