Chief Executive Officer
I’ve spent my entire career in healthcare and have held leadership positions in hospital services, mental health, primary care and national policy.
I was Chief Executive of York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a high performing 700 bed hospital in the north of England, and held the Chief Executive position for the South Central Strategic Health Authority, responsible for the delivery of all healthcare services to a population of 5 million.
In 2009 I took on the role of National Director of Transformation for the NHS, responsible, amongst other areas, for the programme to deliver £20b of efficiency savings whilst improving quality across the whole range of NHS services nationally. I was also responsible for the development of the 111 number, one of the many experiences which led me to take up the role as Chief Executive here at Practice Plus Group in 2013.
Throughout my career I’ve taken a deep interest in approaches to delivering enhanced quality and value of healthcare services, and the role of leaders in achieving these improvements. It is a subject on which I regularly speak nationally and internationally, such is my passion for these issues.
