Previously was National Director of Improvement and Efficiency at the Department of Health. Led the national Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) project that works across the NHS to improve both quality and efficiency.
Was also Chief Executive of the NHS South Central Strategic Health Authority, and Chief Executive Officer of York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
More than 30 years’ experience in the NHS, with experience in primary care, mental health, healthcare commissioning and policy development.
Joined Practice Plus Group (formerly Care UK) in November 2012 when the company acquired Harmoni.
Joined Harmoni in 2009 as a self-employed GP and was appointed in January 2010 as clinical director in a GP practice with a walk-in centre, and an out-of-hours service.
Became a Harmoni regional medical director in East of England in June 2012, then national medical director in September 2013, overseeing all clinical aspects of Practice Plus Group’s primary care services.
Still works as a GP in clinical practice and out-of-hours services in North East Essex, an area which includes highly deprived areas.
