Gillian Morgan, 74, an artist from Ringwood, has lived with a scar on her retina for many years and regularly visited her local Specsavers optician for monitoring. When she noticed gradual distortion in her vision, she was referred to Practice Plus Group’s mobile eye clinic in Ringwood, to support her with quick and convenient access to specialist care close to home.

“I am really happy with my treatment at the Ringwood clinic…it means I can maintain my independence and continue doing the things I enjoy like my art. I am so grateful for the support I have received!”

“It’s really wonderful to have this service right here in the community. It’s so much easier than travelling into Bournemouth, especially with the parking and traffic, which can be quite stressful.
“I had my first consultation at Practice Plus Group mobile clinic in Ringwood on 9th November 2025 after being referred by my optician after I’d noticed some distortion to my vision. I received a scan as was diagnosed with Wet AMD. The team advised a course of injections to treat it, and I went for my first injection in December. I’ll be going again in February, and then the team will assess how often I need treatment after that.
“The consultant, Rueben, said it was very good that we caught the condition early. The clinic is quick to get to from my house, and my friend drives me there because I can’t drive when having the injections.
“The team could not be kinder. They provide a wonderful service. Ruben performed both the scan and the injection, and he was extremely careful and gentle. The clinic is very clean, and the atmosphere is lovely.

“My friend who drives me for my appointments, also receives the same injections, but at a clinic in Bournemouth which is more awkward to get to. Having seen the set-up in Ringwood and how pleased I am with the service and how much more convenient it is to get there from home and park she is now asking her GP to refer her to Practice Plus Group mobile eye clinic in Ringwood. That really says it all – it’s an excellent service, and I feel very lucky to have it so close by.
“I’ve now had two injections and my vision has already improved slightly, and I notice less distortion. I love to draw and have done so for many years until recently when my artwork paused to care for family members. I have always drawn animals – mainly horses and dogs as they have been a big part of my life. Since my mother and husband both sadly passed away my friends are now badgering me to pursue my art again. Of course, the diagnosis of AMD was a shock so I thought drawing would be difficult if it progressed. Two injections in, it looks like my eye has stabilised and I have good sight, so it’s very encouraging.
“I am really happy with my treatment at the Ringwood clinic, and I am glad they are able to treat my eye and ensure I don’t lose my vision. It means I can maintain my independence and continue doing the things I enjoy like my art. As an artist my vision is everything to me – I am so grateful for the support I have received!”
