Are you looking for your next GP career move?

At Practice Plus Group, we are the UK’s leading healthcare provider of primary care services including GP practices, walk-in centres, urgent treatment centres and prison healthcare services to over 40 prisons across the country.

Our GPs are free to do great medicine. As you don’t get involved in owning our practices, you don’t need to worry about all those logistical niggles that colleagues elsewhere may have. Our practices and centres are open late and at weekends, so you can work whatever mix of hours and days that works for you. And meanwhile, we’ll make sure your skills are kept up to date with a CPD and registration programme.

“I balanced this management job with OOH work, as well as remaining a partner in a practice in South West London, and Practice Plus Group allowed me immense flexibility to do all this.”

Dr Asim Hasan
National Medical Director for Integrated Urgent Care at Practice Plus Group

Being a GP in a prison environment can be a demanding yet rewarding job and can provide an interesting opportunity to develop a career where no two days are the same. Prison GPs see a broad range of undifferentiated pathology, made more complex by limited accessing of healthcare services before entering prison. This makes medicine within a prison very interesting and gives opportunities to see conditions that are rarely seen in mainstream general practice.

GPs see patients in clinic in the same way as any other general practice and are responsible for looking at blood results, diagnostics results and scanned letters etc. In addition to this out GPs engage with the multi professional complex case clinic where complex patients are discussed and case managers allocated to support their care.

Our Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) services offer health advice to the public when they’re unable to get to their own surgery. This allows our GPs to work not only in an environment that they feel they can excel in, but also at hours that best suit them during the evenings and weekends.
Working in our services means you have a supportive team and management structure which listens to your innovative ideas, and can offer progression within your role. As a GP with us, you can see patients:

  • At one of our walk-in centres
  • Visiting patients in their own homes
  • Over the phone via telephone triage

Our GPs are free to do great medicine. As you don’t get involved in owning your own practice, you don’t need to worry about all those logistical niggles that colleagues elsewhere may have. Working in our practices and centres gives you freedom; they are open late and at weekends, so you can work whatever mix of hours and days that works for you. And meanwhile, we’ll make sure your skills are kept up to date with a CPD and registration programme.
