How do I get referred for a private MRI scan at Southampton?
Getting referred is quick and easy at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Southampton and you can benefit from shorter waiting times, with referral to scan within two weeks*.
Get a referral from a healthcare professional
If you are already receiving treatment, you can ask your GP, physiotherapist, osteopath or chiropractor to fill in our MRI request referral form and email it to us at private.southampton@practiceplusgroup.com.
Once we have received your referral form we’ll be in touch with you directly, to book your scan.
What MRI scans do we offer?
We can offer a large range of MRI scans including:
- musculoskeletal (MSK): bone joints, spine, sacroiliac joint
- bony pelvis
- lumps and bumps
- contrast studies on the above areas
- abdominal scanning including MRCP (Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography), prostate, liver, etc
- gynaecological
- anal fistula
Unfortunately, we cannot offer:
- scans for breast
- scans for cardiac problems
- scans for patients under the age of 16
- scans for patients weighing over 25 stone (subject to assessment)
- self-referrals

Our pricing is simple and transparent.

- Any scan requiring an injection of contrast media is an additional £190
Payment is by credit / debit card upon booking your scan. We accept most major credit cards, with the exception of American Express and Diners Club cards.

How will I get my results?
Your images will be reviewed by a radiologist and the official report will be send to your referrer within five working days. You should then make an appointment with your medical professional to discuss the report. After this discussion, your medical professional can provide you with a copy of the written results. Your images will be sent to you via an electronic platform.
