Mr Waqar Jan is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in hip and knee replacement surgeries. He has over 26 years’ experience since becoming qualified in medicine in Pakistan. Mr Jan is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. Mr Jan has special interest in lower limb joint arthroplasty: hip replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery.
Mr Waqar Jan gained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Peshawar University, Pakistan in 1991 and his Fellowship from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 1998.
Mr Jan finished a 4 year Senior Specialist Registrar Training Program with the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland in 2005. Mr Jan won Cork’s ‘Prize of the year’ in 2000, for best research paper presentation. Since then he has presented on numerous occasions.
Mr Jan joined Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth in 2024 as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon. Mr Jan has recently relocated to the West Midlands, where he now forms part of the consultant orthopaedic team at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Birmingham.
Mr Jan has several published papers.

In addition, Mr Jan also carries out the following procedures: shoulder manipulation, bunion surgery, carpal tunnel surgery, ganglion removal, De Quervains surgery, aspiration of joint, removal of internal fixation of bone, tendon repair, joint manipulation, joint fusion, osteotomy of neck (first metatarsal bone), osteotomy of head metatarsal bone.

After MBBS (1990) and FRCSI (1998), Mr Jan successfully completed the “Senior Specialist Registrar Training Program” conducted by The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) from 2001 to 2005. The Continuum of Training is an approved program by RCSI in conjunction with the Irish Institute of Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery (IITOS).
Mr Jan passed his Intercollegiate Specialty Board Examination “FRCS-Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery” in the year 2007. The Exam is conducted by all 4 Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Ireland and UK.
