Mr Ockrim has and still works in Yeovil District hospital since 2003 and is a consultant surgeon, clinical lead for surgery and a colorectal cancer surgeon at the hospital alongside his YDH work. He qualified from Glasgow University Medical School. and did his surgical training in Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London.
Mr Ockrim’s surgical interests at the treatment centre include hernia surgery, gall bladder surgery with an interest in intra operative ultrasound, he performs coloproctology in the treatment centre treating mainly haemorrhoids.
Research and publications
Mr Ockrim is not a keen researcher himself but actively supports the academic department at Yeovil which publishes extensively and supports his colleges including the publications of Professor Nader Francis.
Memberships and fellowships
Mr Ockrim has been interested in enhanced recovery for many years and was on a fellowship to Prof. Henrik Kehlet to study enhanced recovery in Denmark.
