Mr Lovasz is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in hip and knee replacements, hand and wrist surgery and foot and ankle surgery. Mr Lovasz’s medical experience spans over 4 decades, making him a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon.
Mr Gyorgy Lovasz graduated as a Medical Doctor at the University of Pécs in Hungary and finished training in orthopaedic surgery in 1981. He has worked as a consultant surgeon in various academic positions at the Department of Orthopaedics of the University of Pécs and spent 2 years on a Fellowship at Orthopaedic Hospital, Los Angeles. Later, he was a consultant orthopaedic-trauma surgeon in Al Ain, UAE for 3 years.
Dr Lovasz has performed more than 7,000 surgical procedures in the UK including hip and knee replacements, knee revisions, knee arthroscopies, hand and foot surgeries. His main field of interest is lower limb arthroplasty.
In his position as orthopaedic lead at our Barlborough hospital, Mr Lovasz pioneered joint replacement as day surgery, along with Mr La Malfa, using regional block anaesthetics and an enhanced recovery pathway that sees patients working with a physiotherapist two hours after returning to the ward.
