Dr Geoffrey Higenbottam is currently the lead anaesthetic consultant at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Southampton. He has an interest in service improvement, patient quality systems and procedure development. Integral part in the development of many of the anaesthetic processes and procedures at the Southampton Practice Group Hospital and the national Practice Plus Group.
He is the primary lead for medical teaching and training at the centre. His anaesthetic interests are day case surgery, major orthopaedics, day case ambulatory arthroplasty surgery, regional anaesthesia with ultrasound guided techniques, and total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA.)
Dr Higenbottam attended medical School at Southampton university, qualifying in 2002. Then trained in the Wessex Deanery his background was in Neuro anaesthesia, ICU and vascular surgery. Certificate of completion of training March 2013 then went into his current areas of speciality on becoming a consultant in 2013.

Annual teaching critical safety training workshops, outpatient nursing pre-assessment teaching, inpatient ward team training, hands on paramedic training, annual dental student sedation training and medical student why anaesthesia teaching. Greater than 15 teaching sessions delivered each year with a career total of nearly 200 delivered teaching events. Prolific author of quality and service improvement protocols. Author of over 20 currently used treatment protocols improving patient care and service efficiency.
