Biography

Mr Mannan was appointed as an Orthopaedic Consultant at Practice plus group Hospital, Ilford in 2023. He trained at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas medical school, having also gained an intercalated BSc in Human Anatomy.

He completed basic surgical and higher orthopedic training in the Yorkshire Deanery’s competitive run-through program. After training, he undertook fellowships in hip and knee arthroplasty at the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit and Harrogate, under leading surgeons Professors Andrew Toms and Nick London. Following a fellowship at Wexham Park Hospital, he became a locum consultant before securing a permanent position in Ilford in 2023.

Mr Mannan offers opinions and treatment for hip and knee conditions, with a focus on managing osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. His interests include joint preservation and high-functioning joint replacement surgery. He specialises in partial and total knee replacements (including complex knee arthroplasty), uncemented and cemented hip replacements. For selected patients, he also provides arthroscopic knee surgery, including meniscal surgery and repair.

Research and publications

Mr Mannan has published extensively on topics related to knee replacement, including the role of assistive technology and outcomes of fixed-bearing partial knee replacement surgery. He has presented his findings at numerous national and international meetings, and serves as a peer reviewer for several academic journals.
