Mr Elrasheed is a consultant oral surgeon who has been working at Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton, since 2018. He has a specialist interest in dental implants, managing facial pain, and treating patients with dental phobia.
He has over 28 years of clinical experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, mainly in the UK but also abroad. He graduated in 1994 and progressed from senior house officer to specialty doctor, associated specialist then to consultant oral surgeon in 2015. He was granted entry onto the UK oral surgery specialist list in July 2009.

He completed two research projects and was awarded Master of Philosophy, MPhil (Oral Medicine) University of Manchester July 2003
• Two year Masters research course in Oral Medicine & Diagnostic Science at the University of Manchester. The study looked at the diagnostic methods and treatment approaches of atypical facial pain used in the local units of oral medicine, oral surgery, anaesthetics, neurology, psychiatry and ENT, as well as the current opinion of the pain specialists in the UK on the terminology, diagnosis and treatment of Atypical Facial Pain. The research outcome resulted in two publications
• The second research project investigated the long-term iliac bone graft stability and survival of the associated implants. This research was part of Adel’s MSc degree (University of Salford).
Adel also has over 17 publications in prestigious scientific peer-reviewed journals, participated in and delivered many presentations and posters at different conferences (Active engagement in publication over 24 years).

As a senior member in various units, I have developed multiple training programs in collaboration with universities and local deaneries for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students and dental core trainees. As an STAC-approved trainer for conscious sedation, I am mentoring the regional trainees and delivering an annual full study day in sedation through Wessex Deanery DCT study Day Programme.
Appointment as a member of the examiner panel for the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) Examinations (July 2025- July 2029).
