Driving improvements in the quality of the care we provide to our patients, alongside delivering a positive experience for our colleagues, is at the heart of everything we do at Practice Plus Group. So we’re proud to announce that our Preceptorship Pathway has been awarded the Gold Standard Interim Quality Mark from NHS England.
Following on from this fantastic achievement, we’re re-launching a revised and refreshed Preceptorship Pathway across our Health in Justice division. Lasting 12 months, the pathway will enable us to further support our newly registered nurses, nursing associates, and allied health professionals as they embark on this next exciting next step in their careers.
So, what’s new?
As part of our new and improved pathway, we now offer:
- An extended pathway, lasting 12 months instead of the previous six;
- Dedicated wellbeing support to ensure the most positive experience for our preceptees;
- A national preceptorship lead to manage and oversee the success of the programme;
- A route not just for nurses, but for allied health professionals too;
- Recommendations around a supernumerary period, providing added breathing space to link with supervisors and access study;
- Access to more regular check-ins with preceptor, resulting in increased support for the preceptee;
- Preceptor training, either to offer a refresher or to upskill new preceptors;
- Protected time for preceptors to complete training requirements.
Kate Wales, our National Head of Safeguarding and Supervision, commented:
“The quality of the care we offer to patients and the wellbeing of our colleagues are both really important priorities for us. The preceptorship pathway ties these two elements together, offering the time and space needed for preceptees to embed their new skills, while also supporting and protecting the wellbeing of individuals as they transition to a new role.
“I’m very much looking forward to seeing our new programme unfold, and to speaking to both preceptees and preceptors about their experiences throughout.”
